What is Hot Yoga

Hot yoga is essentially hatha yoga which incorporates balance strength and flexibility into form and movement while working in a heated environment. Hot Yoga is recommended for everyone, from first day beginners to advanced students. The tradition of this method is that everyone is practicing the same posture at different levels of ability, receiving the same benefits. There is an exact position for everyone at every level, which our trained instructors will help you find. Hot Yoga is our studios specialty.

Why the Heat

The room is heated to a warmer temperature to allow for the body to move deeper into postures, without the possibility of injury. It is 26 to 30 postures that are done in a systematic way (particular sequencing will vary) and your teacher will instruct you throughout. In hot yoga, the muscles will be stretched and contracted to improve circulation to the joints and ligaments. It is a holistic, whole body workout that is suitable for all levels.

Benefits of Hot Yoga

The temperature allows you to stretch strengthen and achieve flexibility deeply and safely Thousands of people are now practicing hot yoga because they experience a type of body wellness that no other physical practice can provide.

Here are some reasons to practice hot yoga:

  • Your body burns fat more effectively. Your metabolism speeds up the breakdown of glucose and fatty acids.
  • The heat produces a fluid-like stretch allowing for greater range of movement in joints, muscles, ligaments and other supporting structures of the body.
  • Capillaries dilate in the heat; more effectively oxygenating the tissues, muscles, glands and organs and helping in the removal of waste products.
  • Improved circulation.
  • Your cardiovascular system gets a reasonable and well structured work out.
  • Your muscles and connective tissue become more elastic and allow for greater flexibility with less chance of future injury.
  • Sweating promotes detoxification and elimination through the skin – which is the body's largest eliminating organ.
  • Just as when your body raises its temperature to fight infection, the raised temperature in the room will assist in improving T-cell function and the proper functioning of your immune system.
  • Diminished lower back pain.
  • Aids in lowering blood pressure.
  • Remarkably reduces stress and anxiety.
  • Calms and clears the mind.

Safety Tips

Doing Hot Yoga is like running 5 miles. You must eat, drink and prepare for this kind of exercise by following these safety tips.
